The girl's legal guardian, Hugh does not seem to want very much to do with them. He's a scholarly sort with little patience for taking care of children, which is why he gets his Aunts to do it for him. He can come off being quite rude. He is very proud of his family's heritage and is working on a novel documenting the family line.
