In Greek mythology, Persephone is the Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld.

In this project, she will have a major presence in the core story and will have appearances in some of the side stories.

While I do occasionally allow myself to selfishly indulge in went willingly, girl-boss Persephone, unfortunately, my own interpretation doesn't go as far as some do. I am playing with the idea of having her name change from Kore to Persephone upon her marriage (because Demeter just naming her 'daughter' is kinda so funny to me), but I'm still deciding. Persephone in the earlier half will reflect a lot more of Rhea's personality in an attempt to keep the cycle of that motherly personality flowing, but similar to Rhea, there's a lot more obedience to her that is due to the figure of power, which is Demeter in this case (Cronus in Rhea's). It's only when she is kidnapped by Hades that she sees how much potential she has as a Goddess. She grows bolder during her time in the Underworld, and even after eating the pomegranate seeds and the deal is made to split her time between the two worlds, she's still learning more and more about herself, not as 1 half of Demeter or Hades' whole, but more so as a singular person. I truly want her character to embody some similarities of an AFAB individual's experience with womanhood and coming. By the latter half of things, she's more prone to saying no to her mother, standing her ground against her husband, and coming to terms with her identity.

  • (Toward Demeter, Somber) Mother, please. I shall return sooner than you realize. I know my absence hurts you, but both of these worlds are a part of me now. I cannot exist with one and not the other anymore.

  • (Toward Hades, Understanding) You've showed me there is beauty even in darkness. The living fear this realm, even our own family does, but they do not understand it. Not truly like we do.

  • (Toward Hermes, Contemplative) Hermes, you move easily between worlds. And at a much quicker pace than I have to. I often think about how you do it, but then again you aren't bound to either as long as I am. Some days I wish I could just go between them as I please. It might be easier for everyone if that was the case.
