ׁ ៹ Threads of Fate: A Greek Mythology Project ׅ ੭
Mike Harrison-Wood for Uranus - CLOSED
In Greek mythology, Uranus is one of the Primordial Beings, the personification of the sky. He is the son and husband of Gaia, making him also the father of the Titans and many other beings.
In this project, he will have a presence in the earlier core stories, but will mostly be absent in later ones.
When auditioning, please keep in mind Uranus' actions within the original myths. In a way, I see him as a prideful character. His choices to hate the children who were born after the 12 Titans were inevitably his downfall in mythology. But while he's prideful in this sense, he also shows signs of cowardice that are extremely important to his undoing. He's a being who saw himself as the top of the food chain, and only once he realized he wasn't (Cronus castrating him) he fled and hid. Just keep this in mind when playing around with characterization.
Some characters I can suggest listening to that would provide a couple of examples of what I'm interested in seeing include Howl from Howl's Moving Castle, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, or Aaravos from The Dragon Prince.

(Toward Gaia, Patronizing) Gaia, my dear wife. Don't fret and worry about them. All you need to know is that I've taken care of them. That's all that matters.
(Toward Cronus, Taunting but Growing Desperate) Do you really think this is wise, son? Your mother has gotten into your head and convinced you that I'm the one responsible. Don't forget who's truly responsible for us all.
(Toward Cronus, Pained and Angty) You're too bold for your own good! Curse you and your mother! May she never see those children of hers again! As for you, my son, may your children overthrow you, just as you have overthrown me!
