ׁ ៹ Threads of Fate: A Greek Mythology Project ׅ ੭
Cursed with Glorious Purpose for Demeter - CLOSED
In Greek mythology, Demeter is the Goddess of Agriculture. She spends her time tending to the fields on Earth.
In this project, she will have a major presence in the core story and will have appearances in some of the side stories.
Similar to how Zeus follows his father and grandfather in personality and characterization, Demeter follows her mother and grandmother. She retains a lot of the maternal traits from them, but she's a lot more independent than they were, choosing not to take a husband. While all 6 of them suffer from trauma due to their experience with Cronus, Demeter's trauma manifests in not wanting to be like her parents. She wants to be better than her father when it comes to Persephone, but in her attempts not to be like him, she ends up strict, controlling, and overprotective, which we see carried over in how she interacts with others that she sees as more powerful than her. Later on in the story, especially once Persephone's core storyline happens, we'll see Demeter's characterization adapt more.

(Toward Persephone, Motherly) You are so dear to me, my daughter. You are the sun in my sky. The blooms in my garden. I fear I'd be lost without you.
(Toward Zeus, Anger) My daughter has vanished and yet Olympus, *you Zeus*, sits silently? I shall not rest until she is returned. And until then, the Earth shall wither and with it the mortals whose offerings you cling to.
(Toward Hades, Acceptance) This was never the fate I wished for her. But I should know better than to expect the best outcome from them. Treat her with respect, Hades. Or else it will be my rage you face.
