Description: Paolo Borja is a man likely in his late thirties to early forties. He has black hair and sports a goatee and mustache. He's always seen wearing his necklace, which is simply a round metallic object with the letter "M" inscribed onto it and attached to a cord. He is Mark’s father. 

Paolo initially comes off as a stern parent, reminding Mark to spend his money responsibly. Paolo is a pretty humorous person, comparable to Mr. Lacsamana when it comes to cracking silly jokes. Much like him, Paolo loves his own family dearly. 

He tries to solve problems in a calm and understanding manner, even when some things offend him such as the landlord charging their family with seemingly unfair interest or when Mark berates his mother. He's never resorted to violence at any point in the story, even if he does seem the maddest at the latter event. He's not foolish or blind to, but aware of injustices. There is simply no reason to call people out for it or argue how unfair something is as it would put their family in a detrimental situation. 

For most of the story, he carries the struggle of coming to terms with the loss of Maria, the love of his life. Though, he does eventually find the strength to move on, all for Mark's sake.
