Makoto Naegi is known as the former Super High School Level Luck, and is a graduate of Hope's Peak's 78th class. His alternate talent is the Super High School Level Hope, earned due to his unusual optimism, and ability to spread hope. He is around 21 years old at the start of this killing game. He is the protagonist of this story. He's a survivor of the killing game that this is based off of, but who knows what will happen this time around.

According to himself, Makoto is a very ordinary person, to the point of being boring. He's a little insecure about it, but he states that his one redeeming quality is his optimism. Makoto is very kind, supporting, and forgiving, even if slightly naive. He's polite, friendly, and a lot more relatable and down to earth than the other students. He is a little timid, even being described as submissive by some. He can also be a bit jumpy at times. Despite all of these things, however, he is a very charismatic speaker, and very determined.

Makoto, being a bit of a timid character, has a bit of a timid voice. His voice should be somewhere between medium and high in pitch, and the actor should be able to display a wide range of emotions. Most of the time, he has a brighter voice, especially when he's motivating people, which happens to be a lot of the time. However, there are times where Makoto himself will feel down, and his voice should sound worried, or even a bit dark.
