Aqualis was amused by the antics of the Nymphs, so much so that their laughter rang through the world, causing a crack in the land. This created the continents, but from the center of the cracks rose soot and ash from the dry core. From these remains rose Rebris. Rebris sealed the cracks by bringing them up to the surface. He stole a fragment of the sun as it passed by and forced it into the upraised cracks to keep the hold. Lava formed and poured around the cracks, forming a volcano, but also forming many sickening and horrible creatures. These were the Goblins. Some soot and ash from the volcano reached the small Elven settlement. The group of Elves that preferred the night had thought the cloud was the oncoming of night, and they rushed to praise it. Their bodies were covered with the dust, and their skin became permanently pigmented. The other Elves began to call them “Dark Elves.”
