Narrator 4 is a mature and motherly performance. It’s a lower-pitched role that’s designed to be a little overbearing and smothering. It’s important to avoid going too low-energy, which is often associated with this trope as the voice needs to project across a room of players who may be chattering while you are talking.

Performance should be:

• Mature (The voice should sound like it’s from someone in their 30s-70s, a younger voice can work if it’s what you’re more comfortable with)

• Low-ish (The voice should be on the lower side, but not at the expense of vocal expression)

• Smooth/Warm (Don’t sacrifice enunciation for this, but you should aim for a voice that’s comfortable to hear)

• Breathy-ish (Not aggressively so as to not muddy the enunciation, but as much as you can comfortably)

Possible Inspirations: Mother Gothel (Tangled), Kafka (Honkai: Star Rail), Rarity* (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic), Lust* (Full Metal Alchemist)

* Lust from FMA has the right ‘physical’  voice, but is a bit too low energy and missing the motherly quality. The voices are, at the end of the day, announcers, they need to project well enough to be heard over a room of chatter by the players. Kafka’s is on the edge of being too quiet, Mother Gothel has the right volume and projection. Rarity has the right projection and voice, but is a little too young and high energy.
