The Character of Myravae Krymstar is the High Elf ghost of a long dead master wizard of Mysticism, the most illusive and wondrous school of magic. Once she was an esteemed member of the legendary Psijic Order, a group of powerful mages who seek to save Nirn from dangerous wizards and lost magical artefacts, before being chosen to study underneath one of history’s greatest wizards within his personal sanctum. This is where the story takes place and wherein the character finds Myravae.

She wanders the sanctum in despondent mourning, both of her sister and the sanctum as a whole, for it was once a vast underground temple of magical study that now is nought but a ruin. Myravae’s ghost lingers within for a purpose unknown even to herself, and she has long forsaken the task of figuring out what tethers her to the mortal realm of Nirn.

Myravae is the first character the player “should” encounter and as such is the most prominent within the story, providing lore and secret knowledge of the ruined sanctum. However, living as a ghost for centuries has transformed her once patient demeanor to one of intense sarcasm and cynicism. When the player first approaches her, she is unwilling to engage in conversation besides the most polite version of “go fuck yourself and die”, for she has seen many adventurers and exploreres meet their end within the Sanctum.

Should the player progress throughout the dungeon (and not die) she will appear before the play surprised and mildly impressed. She will then ask a favor of the player; to kill the Lich (undead zombie wizard) that resides in one of the ruined sections of the dungeon. Myravae explains that the Lich  to be one of masters who studied within the dungeon, but is unwilling to go into further detail. (The Lich is in fact Myravae’s sister Naravae, but at this point this is unknown to the player)

Myravae suspects that she is tethered to the mortal realm of Nirn, because she abandoned her sister in her time of need. In life she shared a bitter rivalry that was further exasperated by both Myravae and Naravae being selected as apprentices to study underneath the legendary lore figure Shalidor, the great Nord wizard. Naravae complained of hearing voices and hallucinations, but Myravae gave no thought to her suffering and when it was too late, Naravae had transformed herself into one of the undying monstrosities known as Lichs.

Back in the present day and after tasking the player with killing the lich, the player will inform them that to truly kill the lich, you must also destroy its phylactery, a sort of horcrux like item holding Naravae’s soul. Upon killing the lich and destroying the phylactery however, Naravae’s ghost/soul is released along with the villain of the story (Viaus Vistaria). Naravae explains that Viaus twisted her mind with dark magics and that she only came to realise this once her soul had separated from her body, for the magic of the mind needs a mind to warp, and does not work upon a soul.

Myravae and Naravae continue to have a complicated reunion (as Myravae has spent many hundreds of years despising her sister for becoming a Lich, as the process to become one involves vile and dark magic) while the player is tasked with hunting down Viaus before he escapes to the surface. The player then has the option of siding with Viaus or Myravae & Naravae, leading to two different endings. (Three if the player decides to say fuck this and not get involved further)

  • Have my hands suddenly manifested into the mundane world? No? I didn't think so. Yes, it must be you. (Thorny))

  • I am Master Wizard and member of the Psijic Order, Myravae Krymstar. I came at the behest of Shalidor to be his master of Mystic Knowledge. (Inform)

  • For one, it is a blight of a creature that does nought but add evil to the waking world. Secondly, I suspect my monotonous haunting is tied to its presence here. Were it to die, I may finally be freed from this infuriating ruin. (Inform)
