The Projectionist’s Monologue
Maxwell Boone for The Projectionist
ABOUT HIM
The Projectionist could quite literally be the devil! He’d say he is if he wasn’t so anti religion. He died in 1923 at the height of his serial killing career killing silent film stars and other famous people. Before he died, he used to be the projectionist for movies. And that’s all he chose to go by. He's nameless. He’s now a ghost. Who spends his days continuing to kill. But usually he’s sending lesser ghosts to do his bidding and kill, so he can absorb the souls and get powerful and one day start the apocalypse and be seen as the god he feels he is. He promises these spirits that he’s gonna get them to heaven if they help him. His enemies are a group called “The Ghoul Gals” A rag-tag trio of paranormal investigators and ghost hunters who are on his case and will stop at nothing to stop him. He's got a bit of an odd obsession with them.
PERSONALITY
TP is very similar in personality to that of James Patrick March from American Horror Story. He also switches between emotions very often when things are too much. So do try to be very quick and sudden when you switch his emotions. When he feels something, he truly feels it at a higher intensity than most people would. He’s also constantly flipping emotions on the regular.
Example: "I have killed so many. And yet those foolish police still haven't caught on. They're bumbling away and drinking their--COFFEE. While innocents die under their nose..." He tilts his head and looks back down at the dummy, grabbing it by it's face and holding it in the air. "I.. have made grown men WEEP. And you..you call me sloppy." He glares. "Forgive me.. You're nobody. You're nothing special.. No.. to me.. You're everything." He smiles at the dummy and slams it back into place
HIS VOICE
TP has a transatlantic brahmin accent, once again, tying back to that James Patrick March inspiration. He speaks sophisticated. Feel free to simply do your best JPM impression or something similar. They truly just have the same voice.
YOU!!
You can read the little example up there or you can read the audition lines or you could even improv based on the info if you'd like. Go nuts. Want to make him cuss a storm at The Ghoul Gals? Or have him rant about the best methods of torture? Absolutely go for it. I’m all ears. Improv is always appreciated and helps in your consideration here. I'd love if you could be as intense as you can. And if you’re able to put a radio filter on your voice, that’d be even better. Just remember that he flips emotions very fast. One minute he’s happy, and it twists into anger. Example: “(soft)Oh I love you—!I’d love you more if (transition to enraged) you weren’t so STUPID.”

You drive me mad, boy. You hear me? MAD. I cannot stand your "smooth talk". You may charm the ladies, but I am no lady. I am a MAN. With..two hands! Flesh! And BLOOD!
You're so smart!! Why?! WHY?! WHY DO YOU CHOOSE ME?! Please.. skip town.. change your name.. change your HIDEOUS FACE, WHATEVER WILL KEEP ME FROM YOU. I cannot control myself. These urges-MY urges. If I hurt you too soon, Ms. Emonade, I don't think hah..I'll forgive you for tempting me. Haha.
Good. So good. You're all such good people and me? Well I'm no good. I'm no people. No..hah.
