Producer/script adaptor, Director and Sound designer role for dramatised audiobook productions
Explicit Censor for Producer/Script adaptor
This is a unique, dual-function role that serves as the critical bridge between the original novel and the final audio drama. As a Producer, you will manage the logistical aspects of production, and as a Script Adapter, you will be the creative force shaping the narrative for our voice actors. This position is vital to our production pipeline and requires a blend of administrative precision and creative storytelling.
Pay Clarification: Our current pay structure is based off of word count. Therefore, the hourly rate is an estimation of work load per hour and not an official figure. As word counts can change depending on title, we are unable to apply a flat rate either. Thank you for your understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management:
Analyze scripts and manuscripts to determine word counts, character involvement, and overall scope.
Assign and manage workloads for our talented roster of voice actors, ensuring deadlines are met.
Prepare and maintain clear, detailed documentation for all stages of production, from casting to final audio delivery.
Serve as a primary point of contact for voice actors, answering queries, providing feedback, and ensuring a smooth workflow.
Script Adaptation:
Deconstruct the narrative flow of novels and stories to identify key plot points, character arcs, and pacing.
Adapt prose into a professional script format suitable for multi-cast audio dramatization.
Annotate scripts with clear, concise notes and cues for line delivery, tone, and emotional intent to guide actor performance.
Proven experience working as a Script Adapter, Script Editor, or in a similar role within audio, theatre, or film.
Demonstrable experience managing media productions and acting as a central point of contact for creative talent.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) and Microsoft Word for tracking word counts, schedules, and production data.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; clarity is paramount.
A flexible, open-minded approach and the ability to work on tasks that may be outside of your initial comfort zone.
Not a requirement, but as we are an audiobook company, an interest in fiction books would be well looked upon.
Comfort with potentially working on "Romantasy" or spicy romance titles is an optional requirement as we are looking to potentially pick up such titles.
This is a fully remote role. However, please note that Kokoro Audio is based in Sydney, Australia (AEST). The successful candidate must have the flexibility to attend virtual meetings and coordinate with the team, which may require attending meetings during early mornings or late evenings, depending on your time zone.
