“We were crossing the Great Desert from Stoat to Brink before we were to be sent to the Southern Region for reinforcement. As we entered those hills we got word from our Scouts about Tech Hunters in the area… it didn’t sound right, Tech Hunters letting themselves get spotted… I felt like we were walking into an ambush… As night fell the sounds of whistles pierced the air, stabbing our ears like needles… then I watched as a Squadron of men fell without noise… the sound of their last breaths and the crushing of their armor put dread into all of us. Before we could position ourselves, a roaring tide of steel came at us, Tinnies and Shek hit us like a wave and we were lost into the tides of battle.

I found a rock to hide behind for a time and fired my crossbow, our squadron did their best to support our spearmen but, it slowly became futile, we lost more and more… and before we had a chance to retreat a cleaver came down upon me, cutting deep into my bone and costing me three fingers… Mako, our squad leader, plunged a sword into the bastard’s heart that wounded me and picked me up… Me, him and two others from our squad survived the ambush and we made our retreat back into the Great Desert and rounded up with a few other survivors. I was too injured to go back out so they shipped me back home and gave me severance pay for my service, but as I returned home I got word the next battalion that entered those same hills suffered the same fate, Mako wasn’t so lucky that time… I pray for them and hope Okran helps their souls…”
