The mysterious mastermind behind the Garugaru's rampages and the destruction of Nico Garden, Gaou is the reborn spirit of what seems to be the wolf pack's leader. His true identity, however, is the ghost of Subaru: a young man who joined the wolves in life and now seeks to avenge their deaths at all of humanity's expense.
