Hanako grew up in a happy, peaceful home. Their parents are present, warm, and supportive. But from the start, Taro was her favorite person in the world. Her big brother. Her safe place. Her everything. As a baby, she cried whenever he left the room. As a child, she copied everything he did. Now, as a teenager, she’s always just a few steps behind him in the hall smiling, waving, watching. He was the one who made her laugh when she cried. He gave her his extra pudding cup when she forgot her lunch. He taught her how to tie her shoes, how to draw anime eyes, how to ride a bike. They shared everything: Cartoons on the couch. Inside jokes about dumb classmates. Late-night giggles over snacks when their parents were asleep. “Taro was my first friend. My first protector. My whole world.” As they got older, Taro started pulling away... just a little. He made new friends. He got quieter around her in public. Not because he didn’t love her. Just… he was growing up. But Hanako wasn’t ready to let go. She didn’t know how to exist outside his orbit. She needed to know what he was doing, where he was going, who he was talking to. Not to hurt him, to protect him. Because she still believes: no one knows him like she does. “I don’t need anything else. I just want Nii-san to be happy, with me!”
