The Mage Pocket: Apprentice Alliance (Full-Cast Audiobook 2025)
DaNoRider for Theo
1/2 POV Protagonists
12-year-old male
At age 7, Theo was apprenticed to The Dark Mage, Maeve Aeron, and all his memories of life before were erased. For the past five years, Theo has lived and trained in the Dark Caverns, with no knowledge of who he was, where he came from before, or even his last name. He has nowhere else to go, so he stays, even though he disagrees with Maeve’s methods at times–never out loud, of course.
Until one fateful night, when the assignment to help kill the heads of the mage council pushes him to his breaking point…
Theo is quiet, calculating, clever, and cautious. He has a natural tendency towards kindness, but that quality is not encouraged by his mentor. He’s very intelligent and is considered a casting prodigy: most children cannot learn to cast spells until age ten at least, but Theo began doing magic at age seven, and without a teacher. He tends to see the world in a very rational, logical way, but he is also is exceptionally good at reading emotions and deducing what people are thinking. He can also lie very convincingly.
Throughout the book, he faces hardships, growth, and the whole range of emotions–but he’s very careful to keep those emotions masked under a steady tone and impassive expression, lest someone try and use them against him.

[Caught off guard. Confused, but staying cool.] “I—I don’t think we’re friends. I’m just helping her with casting. It’s an alliance.”
[Earnestly encouraging] “That doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re stronger than anyone else because you keep trying even though it doesn’t come naturally to you.”
[Smoothly lying and manipulating someone who has power over you. Internally, your heart is pounding. Will you get away with this?] “I would test them. As you said, trust is earned. I would give them an opportunity to earn it, or else prove that they have already lost it.”
