Nat is the slightly grumpy realist to Riko's optimist. Born in the slums of the wharf quarter, he came to the orphanage everyone lives at after his sister died. He's keenly aware of his luck in escaping the slums and thus avoiding an inevitable death, and doesn't want to see Riko throw her life away on a whim. Even so, he does what he can to make her descent easy.

As a boy around the age of twelve, his voice hasn't broken yet and thus would be best served by a female voice actor. Since he's the oldest of the group, however, a male with a suitably young voice may be considered. He has a lot of emotional moments throughout the clip, trying to hide his tears even as his throat swells with emotion. I'm going to be picky, here. His Japanese voice actor is Mutsumi Tamura.

  • (Not aggressive, just a bit know-it-all) You dummy. Mailing from the first or even second layer is one thing, but if you really wanna go all the way down, mail balloons will never make it back up.

  • (Becoming wistful) All the kids growing up here see our dinky little Gate to the Netherworld and wanna become licensed delvers... I'm one of the lucky few who succeeded. If I didn't get into Belchero, I would've gotten sick from all the toxins in the garbage or even gone and died myself. If I can rise the ranks and become a Moon Whistle like Leader, I'd like to open an orphanage here for the kids like me.

  • (Voice thickening with emotion) Hey... you know... Riko... (Swapping to thoughts, less thick but still emotional) Damn it... (Physically, thick, not coming out right) I... (Thoughts, less restrained) Damn it! I can't... (Physical) I want... (Thoughts) I can't get it out...
