Harper Jay Rook is an intrepid explorer documenting their exploits in the horrifying world called "The Darklands" or "The Cryptid Realm". Harper Jay has an academic personality, but has the energy and enthusiasm of a classic explorer. They're a young scholar who has become the most prominent name in cryptozoology. They are a recurring role, and not directly related to Edmund and Quin's adventures. Their perspective will be like an audio journal and they will often be used to give background information on cryptids that Edmund and Quin will be interacting with. They are also very important for the overall lore.

Harper Jay should sound androgynous, but should trend towards a more masc-leaning voice (He/They pronouns). They are softspoken, intelligent, and fearless. They should also sound youthful, but be unmistakably mature and confident.

  • This is Harper Jay Rook, day 30 of my expedition into the darklands. Still no sign of large wildlife. Though I keep seeing those rat-like creatures like the ones I encountered on my first day in this dreary place. They seem to favor the redwoods and are relatively harmless. My studies have revealed that they only grow hostile when you approach their nest… on a completely unrelated note, SYMPHONY mysteriously deleted all audio from the latter half of day 29. Coincidentally, I may have made the aforementioned discovery regarding the rats within that particular half of the recording. I have also decided to call these creatures - for no specific reason - “Bastard rats.”

  • From my experience in the Fae Realm, swamp creatures usually trend towards hostile. Since very little is known about the darklands, I suspect that I might find much worse.
