Charlie Horse - Animated Pilot (New Supporting Characters)
MitchLeschinski for Charlie Horse (Lead)
Once a rising star on the racetrack, Charlie's career came to a screeching halt after a major crash left his future in ruins. Now bitter, broke, and trying to keep a low profile, he masks his lingering ambition with dry sarcasm and a “why bother” attitude. Despite his cynicism, Charlie’s loyalty runs deep, and when push comes to shove, he always shows up—especially for Douglas.
- Medium-low pitch with a light Southern accent (open to interpretation—feel free to explore what fits.
- Dry, sarcastic tone—think calm frustration with flickers of warmth and reluctant heroism.
- Sounds tired of the world, but not sluggish; speaks at a moderate pace, like someone used to rolling with the punches.
- Can lean into deadpan humor, but must have emotional range for moments of genuine concern, shouting, and slapstick pain.
- Pay close attention to the audition lines—brackets indicate tone, actions, or emotional context to guide your delivery.
- Note: The first audition line plays into Douglas’s (and vice versa)
- What made you want to audition for this series—or this character in particular? We’d love to hear why, either in your audition or in the description!
(surprised by Douglas) AUGH! (falls off couch onto floor) OOF! (muffled, face against carpet) Douglas, why? ("Why so glum, chum?") Oh, just lost another job ("No way! Me too") You realize that's a bad thing, right? ("maybe this just means something even better is waiting for us!" ) Or we're about to lose our apartment. This is serious!
(sleeping, slowly waking up) Ugghh. Mmm. Huh? (sees alarm clock) Oh no. (Frantically getting ready) Douglas! Wake up! We overslept—we’ve got ten minutes to be at work! MOVE!
(working at a power plant) (fake confidence, muttering) Alright. I got this. I rewired a toaster once. This is just a... bigger toaster. What’s the worst that could happen? (touches the wires together) (electrocuted, screaming, and glitching) GYYAAAHHHHHZZZZZTTTBBZZZZZZTTTT—!!... (stiffly, teeth buzzing) Uugh. My bad.
Hey, I forgot to add my "why"..so here ya go!I LOVE a dry character, then add a (not so subtle) southern accent and a lot of action?! COME ON, this is a dream roll!
