Cracked Mirror
CaliRains for Mrs. Wrobleski
Mrs. Wrobleski is a passionate, emotionally intuitive choir teacher in her early 30s who believes music can reach places that words can't. Her classroom isn’t just a place to sing — it’s a sanctuary for expression, healing, and truth. She teaches with intensity, compassion, and the unwavering belief that every student’s voice matters.
That belief is tested with Olivia Mattson.
Olivia used to love singing. She used to lose herself in it — until life got heavy, and she stopped letting herself feel joy. Now, she shows up late to choir, avoids solos, and acts like she doesn’t care. But Mrs. Wrobleski can see through the bravado. She hears what Olivia won’t say — in the way her voice trembles when she thinks no one’s listening, in the way her silence hurts more than any outburst.
The two clash often. Olivia is fire — defensive, explosive. Wrobleski is structure — emotional but controlled. Their battles in class are less about notes and rhythms, and more about what it means to be seen, and the fear of being truly known.
But despite the conflict, Mrs. Wrobleski never gives up on her. She sees the girl who used to love singing — and the young woman who still does, deep down. Her greatest challenge, and maybe her greatest purpose, is to help Olivia believe in her voice again.

1. Firm but caring (during choir rehearsal, speaking to Olivia) "You walk in like this doesn’t matter — but I’ve heard you sing, Olivia. And I don’t mean just the notes. I mean you. You don’t get to pretend your voice doesn’t matter when I know it does."
3. Emotional confrontation (after Olivia skips rehearsal again) "You keep acting like you're above this, like you don’t care. But the truth is, you care so much it scares you. That voice of yours? It’s not broken. You’re just afraid of what will come out if you really let it sing."
6. Frustrated but pleading (after Olivia walks out mid-song) "You don’t get to quit every time it gets hard. That’s not how music works. That’s not how life works. You owe it to yourself to finish the song."
