THE TARGET - Lead Male Voice Actor + Supporting roles (Audio Drama/Audio Roleplay)
Randal Wung for Sean Prescott
Male character, 20s to early 30s.
Voice should feel natural, warm, and emotionally grounded, with the ability to shift between introspective narration and heartfelt dialogue.
Sean is a college student at a small-town college in Pennsylvania, where he’s also the captain of the Black Falcons, the school’s football team. The story is told through his voice, intimate, reflective, and often directly addressed to the listener, who is part of the Deaf community and someone Sean once deeply loved.
This is a cinematic audio drama with a strong emotional arc. The actor must be comfortable performing both narration and emotionally intense scenes, including tender, romantic, and vulnerable moments.
Keep in mind: This is a cinematic, character-driven story — not an animated or theatrical piece.
Please aim for a grounded, natural performance, similar to what you’d hear in films like Normal People, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Call Me by Your Name or The Social Network.
Avoid cartoonish or overly exaggerated deliveries.
Think subtle, real, and genuine — like you're speaking to someone right in front of you.

Hi there!Thank you so much for your audition!Your acting is good, but for me it fits a more theatrical and expressive register that doesn’t quite match the tone of this format or this character.Sean speaks mostly in introspection, he’s in his head a lot and your take felt more upbeat and playful, which moves away from Sean’s calmer, more reserved personality. So it’s not bad acting at all, it’s just not the kind of delivery that fits this particular role or the overall style of the project. What I heard actually reminded me of characters from films like the Joker, a bit eccentric, but still well executed.Thank you again for your interpretation and your interest!
Wow…thank you. I'm not used to getting feedback on my auditions, so I'm both stunned and appreciative you took the time to do so with what were no doubt a buttload of submissions—your courtesy is admirable. And, yes, I lean toward the theatrical coming from a theatre background and having what I've been told can be a big personality, so being "natural" for me in voiceover sometimes means toning down the way I naturally speak, lol.
Anyway, mahalo again for your kind, thoughtful response. They say building relationships is the key to success in this business, and what you're doing is exactly how to go about it.
