Gingerpaw is a member of Crestclan. He's mischievous and likes to avoid doing his training, which ends up costing his life when he runs into an Eagle. Despite Blakefeather and Hollysong's attempt to save him, it was already too late. In the game, it turns out he actually survived and has been in hiding and joins the rouges/loners and never returns to Crestclan. Since his only purpose for coming back in the game is to give you another quest, I've debated just leaving him as dead. this could change though. 

Since he's only a freshly new apprentice when he dies, just keep the same child like voice through it all.
