BACKGROUND
Kodai Falco is the Captain of trainee squad 1, and the main rival/anti-hero throughout the series. Son of High Commander Kalythar Falco, Kodai spent his entire life in his father’s shadow. Kodai is the product of an affair between Kalythar and a woman he never met, spending his entire life with his father, stepmother, and half-siblings. Kodai is well-aware that his stepmother and half-siblings resent him, seeing him as a constant reminder of his father’s infidelity. In an effort to make his father proud of him and finally live up to his family’s name and lineage (being the only son), Kodai has spent his whole life working twice as hard to make up for his biological shortcomings as a halfling. Kodai, despite his family’s wealth and power, is incredibly isolated and has difficulty socializing without coming off as hostile or rude. He views everyone around him as an obstacle, and develops an intense hatred towards Elio (Protagonist) shortly upon meeting him due to jealousy and fear of Elio usurping his spot as top ranked Captain.
