- Middle-aged to mature voice type with mid-deep tone. Should sound somewhat tired-of life (but is relatively good natured). Should sound hungover and a bit out of it some of the time (and sometimes, even a little intoxicated), but not to a distracting degree, and this is still to be used selectively. Despite this, he is a clever man, and can have definite moments of serious clarity that allow him to convey well-thought out plans and instructions with ease. Might be somewhat dry, cynical and sarcastic, but is generally well-intentioned.
- Captain Vimes is a character reference, if you're familiar with the Discworld novels (from the books, not the TV show). Otherwise, a slower paced and less intelligent Dr House is another decent reference of the kind of character type we're going for. Caius is less of an asshole though and takes his job seriously. American or British can both work.
[Dialogue] I don't know much about the Ashlanders. Most people say they are murderous savages. But most people are idiots. A word of advice. In Morrowind, if you have disturbing dreams, the Temple says you are crazy. And they want to lock you up. So take my advice, and keep a lid on it. Eccentric isn't charming to them -- it's dangerous. The natives are very tight-cheeked, and you will be too, if you want to avoid unwanted attention. Internal politics. Some concern about my sugar. I thought about refusing the recall. But they have members of my family back in the capital.
