INFORMATION
Melissa is a big personality, a grandiose southern belle with an accent to match it. She talks loudly, smiles brightly, and has sass for days on end to serve up to anyone. Melissa has a way with people and is friends with almost anyone she comes in contact with--though if she's not their friend she will find a way to know their dirtiest secrets. Even as she's extremely popular and a Class A socialite, she is not a typical "mean girl". She has a kind and giving heart--even if she can be a bit manipulative at time--extremely protective of the close friends she's found herself in association with--especially Teo. She's confident and can give a bit of a overbearing air with the way she speaks and acts, usually she apologizes for these kinds of antics knowing exactly how her personality can be interpreted. She's closest with Teo, having known him since they were kids, and is very motherly about him, usually coming to his defense through any situation. 

VOICE
Melissa is a Southern belle but she is NOT Texan. I want her to have an East Coast southern accent, something closer to Louisiana or Georgia rather than Texas, though just giving a try  at Southern is good enough for me. If you do know the difference between the inflections of these accents then give it a shot for me! Her range is more on the medium to high scale, but not grating. 

If you can't get the southern accent completely right, don't worry about it. I'm totally open to coaching whoever gets the role if they're not feeling confident with it :) the most important thing to me--as mentioned in the about above--is emotion and delivery. Again, I'm open to different interpretations of her so if you'd like to give her a different kind of accent then try it out

  • Don’t you dare start that lying around me, I don’t want to be anywhere in the vicinity when the good lord strikes you with lightning for such a heavy falsity.

  • [fake offended] Hey now, it ain’t my fault that I’m very convincing with my words, not to mention that those girls were not completely attentive to what I was saying. I always make it very clear that you may or may not be interested in them, but they’re always so wrapped up in thinking you wanna do the dirty do-little with them that they don’t listen. That ain’t completely my own doing.

  • Oh! Speaking of juice, what kind of juice do you want? [she retrieves her purse] I brought some oranges and apples. Of course I can’t go anywhere without my sweet tea bags, so you know I’ve got some of that. Oh!  That’s where I left my hot sauce. Good Lord I can be so scatterbrained at times.
