(Sophie is almost 13 years old.) Sophie Foster is the main character in the series. She is very insecure yet and doubtful yet optimistic, and everything in the new world she is now living in is extremely new to her. Because of her extreme smarts causing her to slip several grades, she has always been the outcast and the freak, in the human world, and now in the Lost Cities as well. She's never felt like she's belonged. But she's just trying to do her best for everyone around her including herself. She is also a telepath, she has been since she was five. And once she meets Fitz, her first ever friend, she learns that that he is one as well and begins to feel like she belongs, especially when she starts a new life in the Lost Cities.
(Baffled, angry, anxious) "You're insane--and I'm insane for trusting you."
(Tearing up, meaningful, serious, holding back sobs) "Please, please know that I love you. I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me. I have to go now, but I will never forget you."
(hurt, holding back tears, angry) "There's nothing to talk about. You don't owe me anything. I'm not your daughter." (DON'T READ ITALICIZED LINE ->) "Sophie . . . "(Same emotions from before) "No, it's fine. I thought we were a family but I guess I was wrong. I can't replace Jolie and I guess you don't don't want me." LINE 4*She is transmitting this telepathically, by the way* (Frantic, yelling, scared) No! We're not dead. Please, someone hear me. We need help!
