Character Bio: A while ago, Steven moved out from his father Greg’s van and came to live with the Crystal Gems. Pearl was closest to Steven’s mother Rose, so she took on the parental responsibilities. However, as a millennia-old cleanliness-obsessed servant with no concept of birth or childhood, the messy reality of caring for a human child is highly unpleasant to her. Steven also is far from an easy kid. As such, by the time the series starts, Pearl is torn between her loyalty to care for Rose’s boy and her frustration with humanity (Steven in particular). She is prim, proper, vengeful and long-suffering.
