Edward Blackwood, also known as Mors Tenebris, is the main antagonist of Samsara. He is a ruthless businessman who secretly covets the power of the Teikai for himself.

Blackwood shows little regard for human life, even for that of his friends. He has a fascination with death and derives a sense of pleasure from watching the suffering of others, regardless of who they are to him. He has a twisted sense of self-preservation, and places importance not on his life but on the things he achieves. On more than one occasion, he has expressed an interest in experiencing death for himself.

He is a skilled manipulator, willing to offer great degrees of power or resort to brainwashing to recruit powerful individuals into the Order's ranks. Despite the sense of danger that accompanies him, Blackwood possesses an uncanny charisma that naturally draws people to him, preventing them from leaving his side. He speaks with a practiced politeness and rarely loses his cool, but this refined manner of speech quickly gives way to genuine, unrestrained anger the moment a situation turns against his favour.
