Red is the main character from the previous series. He is brave, kind, and outgoing, and he fully believes in the idea/thought process that he is the best Pokémon trainer. He does not let this belief get to his head, as he is more than willing to help younger kids catch a Pokémon. However, it isn't until he loses his first proper battle which humbles him and he goes to the only place that can help him to become the very best Pokémon trainer, and from that point on, his journey starts. Red is very much the quintessential hero and is capable of feats of agility and is always willing to help others, with or without the help of his Pokémon.
