New World Adventures
AustinRearden for Darrak (Dwarf Fighter)
IN MY HEAD: John Rhys-Davies's Gimli from Lord of the Rings
I scout the room for hot women (He's declaring his action as he plays New World Adventures)
At least I can protect a healer! (Loud, upset, and snappy) [He's responding to an insult, making fun of Alek for failing to save Regdar's life.]
Tell Alek I beg for his forgiveness. I know not what possessed me to say such things. (Desperately sorry.) [Yes, this line and the previous line are related.]
I love your voice, I love your accent, but the emotion falls flat. I can tell that, at the time of recording, you are thinking about how you sound. As backwards as it may seem, that's what killed your audition. You shouldn't think about how you sound, you should think about those hot women you're scouting the room for. Think about how angry you are with Alek for insulting you. Think about how humiliated you are that absolutely vile friendship-breaking words escaped your mouth in a passing moment of anger.
I can get that, however the guy you cast after listening to his audition didn't really give off any more inflection than I did. So I'm a tad confused with your feedback.
Probably, but he sounded exactly like Gimli from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, so I'd let him get away with murder. Fact as, anyone who's seen the film imagined a heavily armed and armoured big bearded dwarf the moment they hear him, so who could ask for more?
After going and watching the film with Gimli, I'd have to say I disagree with you. I actually don't think he sounds much like him at all. Gimli has a more robust tone when he speaks he's not so mellow as the other guy portrayed him to be. I'd urge you to go watch a clip of Gimli and compare my audition to his and see who sounds more like him.
I couldn't pick a winner, I was so amazed by both. So I called in an outside expert who's more familiar both with the movie and the accent. He declared you defeated, but wear that silver medal with pride. It was the most epic dwarf battle I'll ever hear in my life. I will tell my grandchildren of this moment.
