Goichi Gembo is a former student of Hope’s Peak Academy, and a participant of the Ultimate Jury Assessment. His title is the Ultimate Chess Grandmaster. Companionship means everything to a man like Goichi, with him always willing to make new friends. From a young age, he’s been competing in chess tournaments, having inherited the legacy of his father, a globally recognised chess player. Whilst he doesn’t choose to remain a step ahead of his opponents, Goichi’s reaction skills and instincts are near superhuman-like. He believes heavily in patience and virtue, and if prompted, can almost ‘zen out’ and remain undisturbed to the world around him. However, once Goichi’s mind is set to something, getting him to change that perspective is an uphill battle that many don’t win. Within a life or death situation like the Killing Game, Goichi walks in as a double edged sword with great instincts combined with an equal amount of stubbornness.
