The Lark at the End of the World
Melissa Carrington for Lucia [Episode 6]
Lucia was once a killer, but she's trying to leave that life behind. All she wants now is to marry her fiance Ameridan and get into a more wholesome kind of trouble. However, she's hiding the fact that she's sick - probably dying. When Ameridan learns the truth, he starts crossing more and more lines in order to save her. And now she has to ask herself whether she truly loved him, or only thought she did.
I'm open to a range of accents for Lucia, but core to her character is that she is working class and takes absolutely no shit from anyone.
[Threatening] Sorry poppett, I don't think I heard you right? I'm meant to be getting married in a week and it sounded like you said I can't use the chapel, cause you pricks got a poker game going? Was that right? No don't tell me. Tell my wedding planner, Mr Flintlock.
[Confessing] The surgeon gave me a year. Two if I sit back and rest - so yeah. A year. (*Ameridan starts crying) No, don't. Don't cry. It's okay. Look at me. I'm still here, aren't I? Don't you start crying 'till I'm actually gone, my love. It's a waste of bloody time.
Eventually, everyone’s gotta choose a rule to live by. If you don’t, everything just passes you by. I know mine. I’ve always known mine. As a killer, as a tailor, as a wife. ‘No loose ends.’ I’m gonna help these people. I’m gonna tell Meri the truth and whatever he says after that, I’m gonna stand with him. That’s me. That’s my rule. And if I can stay true to that, then maybe it won’t feel like dying. It’ll feel like… like an ending. One of the good ones.
