100 years ago, River Grace was a Bounty Hunter, who made a killing from rounding up convicts who tried to escape from Easelford Gaeol. They held themselves to a high standard; always polite, always used the proper fork at dinner and always dressed proper for the occasion. These are the things that seperate good, just people from the feral dogs that roam this world. Deep down though, River knows that they have the same sickness as these creatures. They're like to hunt too. The law is just their excuse.

Since then, River has entered the service of Marwolaeth. The Crowmaker. The Cold God. The God of Justice and The God of Death. They are his favoured disciple and have been given many gifts. They cannot die without his permission, and now they have an opportunity to hunt down and judge many sinners. Oh yes, they have a charmed life indeed.

The Disciple is noticably from an older time period than the other cast members. They don't have a specific gender or accent, but I would be interested to see auditionees lean into this element.

EDIT: The name of the God in Line Three can be pronounced a few different ways but the one we're going for in this show is (MAR-WOE-LAY-ATH). My deepest respect to all of the actors who have recorded auditions before I made this edit, you have gone boldly into a strange and terrible place. I won't be factoring the pronounciation into any of my casting decisions.

Language:
  • english
  • Are we to speak with mummer's names then? In that case, I am The Disciple. I bear no title more honest than that.

  • [Recovering from a gunshot wound] It is considered a faux pas to shoot one's host through the head. Though I confess, I am fond of this jacket and thus approve of your aim. Perchance, could I borrow a hat from you? It does not do to leave an unsightly wound uncovered.

  • [Condemning a Prisoner] You profane the word of Marwolaeth. He who is author of our laws and priniciples. By his word we are made better than our forebears. By his word we are elevated beyond the beast. By his word we are just and kind and worthy of salvation. You could have been so much more. But you hate him, and thus reduce yourself. We pity you. We who hear his word. We who love and adore him. We pity you.
