Star Jackson for Birdie Ingram
(Looking for POC actors only)
Elizabeth ‘Birdie’ Ingram works for an advertising agency that recently picked up the U.S. Army as a client. She’s the creative director of the ‘propaganda’ wing that has been tasked with promoting the country’s new laws against spreading foreign ideas in any form and keeping focus on American businesses. She knows that the basis of her job is unfair and unrewarding, but keeps it because it allows them to have food on the table. She desperately wants to make something of herself as an independent artist, but the art industry has diminished due to a rise in restrictions that mandate what kind of art is allowed to be shown in public.

Hello. Get me the Florence Media main office, please. (Beat) Mr. Heyworth? It’s Elizabeth. Elizabeth Ingram. I’ve just stumbled across something big, I think, in the Downtown area. I’ll be late coming in, but I’ll bring with me something noteworthy. (Beat) A technology fair. The entire street’s swarming with people. Alright. Goodbye.
Well, what long-term benefits will that bring in the future if our workloads are determined by demand? Surely a faster production of whatever this… robot is making will result in a larger demand for more of it, forcing the production to be faster, more efficient—
Norm, it isn’t your fault you’re not allowed to work. I’m just glad you’re taking this time to… rest. This’ll pass.
