Matthew, the oldest robot in town, is the head butler at the Reinhold estate. He is kind and trusting to Professor Layton, but his timid nature often places him on the receiving end of Lady Dahlia's bossiness and rage. Most of his lines are either formal as per his role of butler, or somewhat distraught as he is being yelled at.
