I am so glad you have come. It will be very pleasant now living with a companion. To be sure it is pleasant at any time here at Thornfield, but in winter time, one feels dreary quite alone. I say alone. Leah is a nice girl to be sure, and John and his wife are decent people, but then, you see, they are only servants, and one can't converse with them on terms of equality.
Is it really for love he is going to marry you? (beat) I am sorry to grieve you, but you are so young and so little acquainted with men, I wished to put you on your guard.
