Ages 16-19. At this point, Anemone has been a soldier for years. She starts dating Vace and becomes respected in the Garrison. Very much a loyalist and a spitfire. She really doesn't get along with Cal or her mother, because she thinks they're weak. She can't stand the thought of becoming a mother, and thinks her own mother is too overbearing about it. However, she still has fun with Sol and considers them a friend. Being a soldier does take its toll on her, though, and being with Vace doesn't help. Vace eventually becomes an abusive boyfriend to her, and her relationship becomes toxic. She doesn't escape it until much later in life.

(complaining, upset) …and he called me up in front of the whole squad to berate me about how I wasn’t wearing my rifle clip properly. Like, I know he’s a lieutenant and everything, but does he have to be so mean about it? Sometimes I think he’s harder on me than the other soldiers.
