Mezzo/Soprano w/ Belt

Undyne is fairly young, though not a teenager.  Despite her age, she knows she needs to take control of her own fate and isn't afraid to lead, despite her age.  While she is very "determined", she does have a soft side, and can be very fun to hang out with.

Differences between video game Undyne and musical Undyne include less savageness and more... self confidence?  Whereas a lot of lyricized versions of Spear of Justice will just be about fighting Frisk, ours is about self-confidence, not sticking to the status quo, to exceed expectations, to not wait around for others to fix your own problems (which is a huge lesson that Frisk learns throughout this show).

PLEASE AUDITION SINGING A PORTION OF A SONG YOU FIND APPROPRIATE FOR THE CHARACTER.

  • Seven.  Seven human souls, and King Asgore will become a god.  Six.  That’s how many we have collected thus far.  Understand?  Through your seventh and final soul, this world will be transformed.  First, however, as is customary for those who make it this far, I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people.  It all started, long ago… no, you know what?  Screw it!  Why should I tell you that story when you’re about to die?!  Ngaaaaahh!!!

  • (Papyrus: She’s just not up to the challenge.)

Challenge?!  What?!  Papyrus!  Wait a second!  Darnit!  He thinks I can’t be friends with you?!  Fuhuhu!  What a joke!  I could make friends with a wimpy loser like you any day!  I’ll show him!  Listen up, human!  We’re not just going to be friends.  We’re going to be (intensity intensifies) besties.

  • Y’know, I was a pretty hot-headed kid.  Once, to prove I was the strongest, I tried to fight Asgore.  Emphasis on tried.  I couldn’t land a single blow on him!  And worse, the whole time, he refused to fight back!  I was so humiliated.  Afterwards, he apologized and said something goofy: (in a slightly goofy Asgore impression) “Excuse me, do you want to know how to beat me?”  I said yes, and from then on, he trained me.  One day, during practice, I finally knocked him down.  I felt… bad.  But he was beaming.  I had never seen someone more proud to get their butt kicked.  Anyway, long story short, he kept training me, and now I’m the head of the Royal Guard!  So I’m the one who gets to train dorks to fight!  Like, uh, Papyrus.

That acting and singing was amazing, however two big problems stick out: during the loud belting in the chorus of This is Gospel, you got out of key. I want to say that you need to have the music a bit louder, maybe have it blasting in headphones while you sing, because the rest was great, but you tend to lean on the sharp side. The other problem was that you peak whenever you shout. If you're using Audacity (I recommend you do), turn down the sensitivity so you can accurately shout into it without dealing with that. It's our audio editor's biggest pet peeve. Other than that, great job!

Hey, to help out after listening to your audition. I don't think you were that out of tune with those belts. The issue is your microphone peaked. When you are doing higher belts or loud lines it is best to lower the volume of your microphone so that doesn't happen. This will improve the sound quality of those notes and also lower white noise.

Yeah, I'm still learning how to work on having a nice sound but I do have audacity now so I can fix it in the future, but again thank you so much!

The audition was good, I used to have the same problem with peaking. About 20-30% in Audacity should do it, and moving away from the mic during the loudest part of the belt, hope that helps
