Jake is an old friend of the main character, Reece. He served in the military with Reece's uncle, Jack, and is the only "family" Reece has left in this world. Jake serves as a mentor and supplier for Reece, arming him for his mission to clean the streets of Riven.
Jake is generally a light-hearted man that can be stern when he needs to be. Late 50's - taking on similar personality traits to Uncle Iroh, in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Has a "hearty" laugh and can be a shrewd businessman, as he owns a pawn shop in Lower Riven.
(Concerned, with a slight hint of irritation in his voice.) “Look at you. You can barely walk. Take off that damn hood and look me in the eye, boy.”
(Blurting Out in an Enthusiastic Response, Impressed at Reece’s Marksmanship) “Damn, kid. Nice shot!”
(Playful Banter) “Now, take this stuff and go get some sleep. You look like a wreck and could use some rest.”
