While Franklin is momentarily distracted and playing with his pocket knife, Nubbins grabs it and cuts himself over the palm of his hand. *It is 108 degrees fahrenheit and you are hot and extremely miserable* This heat is just driving me crazy. I don't know if I can take... - much more of this.
*Riding in the van you come up on a slaughterhouse, on the side of the road. It brings back fond memories* Hey, that's the old slaughterhouse. That's where Grandpa used to sell his cattle. We got an uncle that works at one of those places outside of Fort. Worth. That's where they kill them. They bash them in the head with a sledgehammer.
*You see what appears to be dried blood on your knife, and you assume it is from the hitchhiker who used your knife to mutilate his own hand for amusement. You think unfondly of how crazy the hitchhiker must have been to cut himself for pleasure, and of course it had to be with your knife. You're still slightly shocked and sort of freaked out by what you witnessed.* Oh, that's blood, all right. And that guy cut the hell out of himself. You think you could do that to yourself?
