Misato is the Captain and caretaker of the Evangelion Pilots. Despite her awful habits and personality, she does care for the children, even though she doesn't understand the general concept of how to take care of a person. Not to mention she is also completely desensitized to violence, or purposefully getting nuked by her boss, and yes that is very literal. Misato is one of the few main characters of the show, and will be in every episode.
