Mai is a serious person, especially when it comes to Sakuta. Although she was dressed as a rabbit at the library to draw attention, she came out as having a slightly aloof personality; she isn't ready to draw more attention than is necessary for herself. She would be using earbuds to listen to music when she is seen and recognized. 

Her fame-filled youth, which prevented her from remaining in school long enough to form friends, can be partially blamed for this. Yet, when she resumes her acting career, Mai gradually begins to open up to others and reveals that she possesses the warmth, wisdom, and professionalism that are typical of an actress of her stature.

She excels academically and helps Sakuta with her studies. She is also a talented cook. In the end, Mai is undeniably a nice, kind girl at heart. Like Sakuta, she is quick-witted but also incredibly kind-hearted.
