Jadis (late 30s f) is the ruthless and enigmatic leader of the Charnel cartel, and Tan's mother. She always has the first and last word. She has a no-nonsense attitude and zero tolerance for those crossing her. As a leader she dangles the carrot, but the stick is never out of view.

She carries herself with elegance and the confident, reasonable tone of someone who knows they're the smartest person in the room. She's unimpressed by displays of volatile aggression, and easily makes the involved parties feel stupid when they lash out. When in a good mood she can be quite friendly, though she can snap back to her cold, foreboding tone at any given moment. A conversation with her is like walking on egg shells.
