Pilot is a Roehus, a race that does not use names. Instead of names, they use either descriptors (short passenger that is also our doctor) or refer to themselves and others by their positions.  Roehus show very little emotion, even in the heat of battle. That said, they do have a dry sense of humor.  [think Spock]
