Daniel Evans is the protagonist and narrator of Shadows of Light.

Daniel is a naive but bitter young pianist due to the untimely death of his mother, who taught him to play piano. He has a crush on a student who always rides the same bus as him to school.
He never had the courage to talk to her because of his shyness and modesty, as well as his dread of being rejected by the girl he loves.

He never overcomed his fear of losing people, just as he never got over his mother's demise.
