The tiny chemist who believes in magic! Step is a mouse with a passion for chemistry- or, in her own words, “potion-making.” She works alongside Suzy at her dig site, using her knowledge of chemicals to help mine, clean, and preserve precious metals and gemstones. Though she is effectively a scientist, Step prefers to view herself and the outside world through a fantastical lens. Step is a bit twitchy and alert, slow to trust strangers, and very meek in personality. Step’s voice is light and feminine and often speaks with an inquisitive tone.
(defensive, hostile) “You’re just going, right? Or do I have to introduce you to the Malevolent Monarch of Melting?”
(nervous, regretful) “I-I promise I’ll never initiate again! I’ll keep my potions to myself from now on.”
(excited, shouting) “It’s melty-melty time!”
