Von Leon, aka. The Lion King, was the ruler of El Nath Mts with his wife Ifia. He was admired by his many devoted/loyal followers as the symbol of strength to the people of El Nath. As El Nath Mts wasn't a wealthy or bustling kingdom, the modest people and Von Leon didn't expect the Black mage to attack their kingdom in his war. This led Von Leon to decline an offer from the Maple Alliance to join them in defeating the Black Mage. His response was deemed unacceptable by the Alliance and they accused him of working with the Black Mage. The Alliance raided Von Leon's kingdom, and being too weak to defend itself, the people as well as Ifia were killed, leaving only Von Leon surviving and his ruined castle. Consumed by despair and rage, Von Leon joined the Black Mage becoming one of his commanders. With his new found power, Von Leon annihilated the Alliance's forces in El Nath. Having encountered Ryude, a bardman and warrior he fought once, when he was eavesdropping on Von Leon and Hilla's meeting, Von Leon learns that Ryude's team are planning to sound the alarm of the Dragon Masters tower, which would signal the Alliance to attack Von Leon's castle. Von Leon sends an army conjured by the Black Mage to stop them. Von Leon defeats Ryude and his team but fail in stopping the alarm sounding. In Ryude's final moments, Von Leon states that he "fought well" and admires him for having something to fight for, when it seemed like he had nothing left to lose. Von Leon's role is mostly a mediator for the Black Mage's commanders during meetings. After the Black Mage's defeat, Von Leon's whereabouts is currently unknown.
