Nina is the main character in the film. She’s a middle aged woman (around 40-50 years old or older) who has an existential crisis and wants to find something to make her life exciting again and seeks guidance from her villages’ shaman woman, Tupilek. She talks about her childhood dream of seeing a legendary bird as bright as the sun but doubts it exists until Tupilek encourages her to search for it despite her doubts.
