Murder Hour: An interactive murder mystery party game
Dan for WIFE
Jane is a victim of domestic violence. She is cut off from her friends and family and is a housewife. She is an intelligent woman who has a knack for codes and glyphs and has been recording everything that has happened to her.
[You are Jane/Wife. You speak with restrain so as not to trigger the cook.]
Cook: You’re going straight home, you hear me? Here are the keys.
(Silence.)
Cook: How did it go with your friend?
Jane: I told her it wasn’t true. That I was fine.
Cook: And did she believe it?
Jane: She let it go.
[You are in the middle of dodging plates and glass cups getting thrown at you. But you're angrier than you are afraid.]
Jane: Stop it!
(Plates breaking)
Cook: You are costing me my job! You are costing me our livelihood! How the hell am I supposed to feed you, huh?! Keep a roof over our heads?!
Jane: Stop! I’M BLEEDING!
[You are at the hospital, exhausted and afraid of the consequences.]
Wife: Ms. Smith?
Customer: Yes, Jane? How are you?
Wife: I’m at the hospital.
Customer: Dear Lord… what happened?
Wife: George… he-- he threw our china at me. Look, please, don’t let George know about this. Don’t make it worse.
Customer: Okay. Okay. You have my word. You will be safe.
[You are Jane and you are pretending that everything is fine.]
Waitress: Say that again, Jane.
Jane: I promise. Nothing is wrong.
Waitress: What about the bruises? You just told me yesterday that he hit you.
Jane: Please, Melissa, just trust me. Everything is fine. Okay? I might have been feeling a little… annoyed at George for making our living room a pigsty every time a baseball match is on. So I thought I could blame the bruises on him. I-- I hit the door on the way out. It’s all there is. I’m sorry I let you believe it.
Waitress: That does not make sense.
Jane: Just… I’m fine, okay?
(Silence.)
Waitress: Are you really?
Jane: (taps Morse code for HELP ME)
Waitress: Okay. I got it. I will back off, okay?
Jane: (taps Morse code for HELP ME) Thank you.
[You are talking to your friend and you're very worried about your safety and angry that nothing helpful is happening.]
Jane: I’m scared, Melissa. He said he’s gonna hurt me and my family. Please… make it stop.
Waitress: Okay, okay. Take a deep breath.
Jane: The CWPP is useless! They won’t help me until I actually forward enough evidence. He’s coming back later and god knows what he might do. You have to help me.
[You are talking to your friend and you're taking extra care moving forward]
Waitress: Jane, I’m coming over to you. I’ll come get the phone and-- and my witness testament, I’ll ask Rick to help me build this case for you, okay? He must have had misconducts throughout the years.
Jane: What about George? He’s ending his shift soon.
Waitress: Don’t worry about him. We have time. He’s having a long talk with HR. Trust me.
Jane: Journals-- I have journals at home. They’re just under the carpet. Thank you, Mel, thank you. Thank you.
