Rick is the HR manager of all Pizza World branches. He's a busy guy and strives to be the best in his field. However, he can play favorites with his friends and that includes the head chef. They drink together and shoot guns together. Rick has dismissed several complaints from former employees about the head chef.

  • [You are HR and you just received a call. You are professional, until they mentioned domestic violence. You feel slightly unnerved, but try to remain professional sounding. SOUND NATURAL]

    HR: This is Rick.

CWPP: Hi Rick, this is the Children and Women’s Protection Program. Is George Lee an employee at Pizza World?

    HR: Yes.

CWPP: Right, we have received a tip about a domestic violence involving George Lee and his wife Jane Lee.

HR: And… what exactly do you need from us?

CWPP: He’s under observation for domestic violence, Rick. Send us the uh-- misconduct reports, testimonies from his co-workers, whatever that can help move the case along.

HR: Of course. I will have to talk to my supervisor about this. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

    CWPP: Bye Rick.

  • [You are confronting an employee who has been accused of domestic violence, but the employee is somewhat a close friend of yours. You put the company first, but you're sometimes conflicted with your loyalty to your friend.]

    HR: Have a seat.

Cook: What’s this about now? Is it about my wife? My wife came just yesterday and clarified that nothing was going wrong. She was just being-- moody! She’s fine.

    HR: George, have a seat.

    (Cook sits)

    Cook: I’m sitting.

HR: The Children and Women’s Protection Program just called me this morning. You’re under observation. Just-- just tell me the truth, George-- did you beat your wife?

Cook: Oh my God! No! I thought you had my back, Rick? Now you think I’m a wife beater?

HR: Look, I’m on your side. I don’t think you’re that kind of person… but what am I supposed to do with the photos?

    Cook: What photos?

    HR: Of the bruises, man.

Cook: Are you screwing with me? What bruise?! You’re-- that’s not real! That could be photoshopped for all we know! Someone is trying to bring me down. Who sent you those photos?

HR: I cannot disclose that. Just-- look, I am required to submit the evidence to CWPP. There’s nothing I can do about that.

    Cook: For fuck’s sake--

HR: And here’s a notice of suspension… effective Monday.

Cook: Are you serious?! I’ve been an employee for 8 years and this is how you treat me?!

HR: I literally dismissed SEVERAL complaints about you from former employees in the past. You think I didn’t risk my ass for you?! You’re digging your own grave now.
