A high school sophomore. She’s quick-witted AND quick on her feet. She’s on the Greyhound to her dad’s house in Smalltown, to spend the summer with her dad and her brother. Or, y’know, she would be doing that, if not for the sudden onslaught of zombies. She doesn’t have a particular reason to leave the Greyhound when she finds out there’s a cure for the apocalypse - she just wants to do what’s right, and she’s just up for some adventure before heading home to her family.
VOCAL NOTES: MIDDLE/LOW RANGE VOICE. MATTER-OF-FACT AND CONCISE. CAL IS THE MOST PRACTICAL OUT OF THE GROUP - SHE THINKS ABOUT WHAT SHE SAYS AND HER SPEECH PATTERN SHOULD REFLECT THAT. VA MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH MAINTAINING HIGH AND/OR MEDIATIVE ENERGY, DEPENDENT ON WHAT THE SCENE CALLS FOR.
CAL: Honestly, I’m not worried about us.
SAMSON: You’re NOT?
CAL: Okay, I mean, I’m worried about dying at the hands of a zombie at all times, but I MEANT we’d be able to save the world and survive when it happens.
CAL: There’s - there was never any talk about us being a package deal. Me and my mom. I could even tell she was excited for me to leave this summer. Everyone was. And - and you know? I actually did try calling her a few times, earlier? You can guess how well that went, even when the cell service started getting better.
[BEAT]
It sucks. Just - knowing you’re the odd man out, and there’s nothing you can do about it, y’know? No one’s really on your side. Ever. You’re just - alone.
